Shadows (a short short story aka flash fiction)
I love walking at night when it’s lit by a full moon, a blanket of snow on the ground lost in my thoughts, and the mysterious beauty of shadow and light until I get the distinct feeling that someone, or something is following me. I quickly wheel around. Nothing. Every hair is standing on end, a shiver runs down my spine, and suddenly I’m chilled.
I keep walking my mind now on what is behind me. I swing around again, scream, then laugh. Poor little Minnie, a study of shadow and light herself, is cowering. Her eyes are bulging in fear the whites stand out against the deep brown of her walnut-colored irises. She had been following me, her black fur part of the shadows of the night.
