Rich, dark, intense all adjectives describing this luscious hot chocolate although they could be applied when describing the perfect guy, wink wink!

  • Topping: 1 cup whipped cream
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Hot Chocolate: ½ cup dark chocolate chips (60% Ghiradelli)
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup half and half
  • 2 TB cold coffee or ½ tsp instant coffee granules
  • 2-3 TB granulated sugar
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla

Step 1

Spoon the whipped cream into 6 mounds on a piece of parchment paper. Make a slight depression on top of each mound. Sprinkle each mound with marshmallows and chips. Place in freezer for 15-30 minutes until frozen. Top mug with one mound. Once mounds are fully frozen, slide them into a zip top bag for another time. While topping is freezing, combine chips, milk, half and half, coffee, sugar, and vanilla in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk occasionally to break up and incorporate the chocolate. Heat until steaming, sugar is dissolved, and chocolate is fully incorporated into the milk. Pour into a large mug or two smaller mugs and top with a frozen whipped cream mound. Serve immediately.
